Having trouble serving? One important factor to consider is the toss. The two keys to a great toss are height and angle. You want to make contact with the ball when it reaches the height of its clime. This is the point when the ball has essentially stopped in mid air. This is the ideal time to make contact. The height you toss the ball should equal the full extension of your racket. For intermediate and more advanced players the height of the toss needs to be adjusted to accommodate the explosive jump toward the ball.
The next critical point is the angle. The ball should be thrown at a 45 degree angle relative to the front of the net and the base line. A good target to aim for is the net post. For right handed players try tossing the ball in the direction of the right net post, and vice versa for left handed players.
In order to maintain that perfect toss, your toss arm must follow the path every time. This builds muscle memory and proper technique which is crucial to the perfect toss
